Shadows are different colors, depending on the color of what they fall on.
When horizontal and vertical surfaces meet, I can go nuts with color, and run out of the lines.
Painting over salt is a horrible idea.
Don’t be afraid of orange blasts of light, or purple or orange or green shadows.
Paint a pool of water at the edge of a shadow, then drop a bit of orange or yellow or green into it to make light appear on the edge of the shadow.
Snow can be orange, or blue – depending on what the light is doing.
Neutral Beige is a very, very difficult color to mix.
